If you’ve ever burned a few hours watching crazy dashcam videos, you know the best ones come from faraway places. But a mind-bending clip making the rounds online this week was captured by a driver right here in Wisconsin.

A man entering Milwaukee’s Kilbourn Tunnel thought he was approaching a massive pit in the road. After he stopped to wrap his head around the video game-worthy obstacle ahead. Another car passes, and he discovers it was an optical illusion. The “pit” was actually a reflection in a large puddle.

The Drink Wisconsinbly Week in Review Editorial Board has been a proponent of more street magic in our cities since stumbling upon a David Blaine TV special in the 90s. While our vision-involved guys in top hats stepping out of clouds of smoke to mesmerize people with card tricks, levitating objects, and small animals being pulled from surprising places, we’re not going to complain about a large-scale illusion happening along a downtown on-ramp.

It’s often said that there’s a certain magic in the air here in Wisconsin. If our state has decided to start distilling that indescribable quality into grand public displays of sorcery, then we can’t wait to see what it has up its sleeve.
