All Santa, No Sleigh

The holiday season shifts into overdrive next Saturday (12/3) when the Wisconsin Bike Fed’s Santa Cycle Rampage takes to the streets of Milwaukee.
The annual event is billed as the world’s largest holiday-themed costume group bicycle ride for charity, and there’s still time for you, gentle cyclist, to get in the mix.
Costumes are encouraged, so you probably want to suit up lest you be labeled a Scrooge or a Grinch. Unless that’s what you’re going for, but those aren’t technically costumes and would really go against the spirit of the event.
Participants can either do the full 12-mile slow-roll ride or join at the halfway point for the shorter six-mile leg. This seems like a good choice for those who have a more authentic Santa shape and want to go easy on the exercise before leaning into it after January 1st.
Proceeds benefit the WBF and aid in their efforts to make Wisconsin more bike-friendly, so that’s cool. The long-range forecast for the event looks quite good considering it’s December in Wisconsin, but wise Santas know how rapidly conditions can change, thus will keep an eye out for changes. Their website spells out the details far better than we can in a pithy newsletter article. You can buy your tickets there.
In the Madison area and kinda jealous? There’s a Santa Rampage there on December 10th.
Enjoy the ride, Santas. We’ll be pulling for you from someplace warm with more comfortable seating.
