Undisputed Champion of Public Markets Located in Milwaukee
They didn't release the final tabulations but the Drink Wisconsinbly Bureau of Math and Numbers' statistical models suggest it wasn't even close.
In news that should come as a surprise to absolutely nobody in Wisconsin, Milwaukee Public Market was voted the nation’s top public market in USA TODAY’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.
The market, located in the Third Ward neighborhood of Milwaukee, is home to myriad food vendors and also hosts cooking classes and special events. It’s a place where locals and visitors can indulge in baked goods, cheeses, meats, produce, and various artisan and ethnic fare.
Milwaukee’s entry bested public markets in fancy pants cities like San Francisco, Seattle, and Napa, as well as Midwestern stalwarts like Detroit, Cincinnati, and Cleveland.
Voting was done by a panel of experts along with readers. They didn’t release the final tabulations but the Drink Wisconsinbly Bureau of Math and Numbers’ statistical models suggest it wasn’t even close.
It’s worth a visit not only because of the delicious food and merchandise from independent local vendors but because it will save you many trips to all those lesser public markets since you know they’d only be a huge step down and leave you feeling sad for the people who live in those cities.
The Milwaukee Public Market is open seven days a week. Check their website for more details and to map the route to the Drink Wisconsinbly Pub once you’ve had enough to eat.
