Get your Oompah on at New Glarus Polkafest
Imagine the bolt of electricity that will shoot through the crowd when the band launches into a party starter like “Hände zum Himmel”.
The mercury is climbing and summer music festivals are getting underway all over the county. In Wisconsin, it is a chance for people to enjoy the incomparable energy and emotion of seeing polka bands perform live.
The New Glarus Polkafest on June 7th and 8th is the next chance for fans to again bask in the Gemütlichkeit. The free event features music, dancing, food, and local beer in downtown New Glarus.
Of course, the music is the main attraction here. After making do with studio albums and bootlegs of old shows over the winter, fans will once again be able to hear favorites like “In München Steht Ein Hofbräuhaus,” “Zillertaler Hochzeitsmarsch,” and “Urlaubsgrüße aus Tirol” performed live in the sunshine and fresh air.
And imagine the bolt of electricity that will shoot through the crowd when the band launches into a party starter like “Hände zum Himmel” or “Schnitzelbank.” Or maybe a certified banger like “Wahnsinn Hölle, Hölle, Hölle.” That’s not something a true polka lover would not want to miss.
Unfortunately, Saturday’s Bacon, Beer & Cheese tasting event is sold out, but that shouldn’t stop you from standing outside with “I Need a Miracle” scrawled on a piece of cardboard in hopes of getting the attention of a generous benefactor with an extra. It’s worked before.
You can learn more about the event at the New Glarus Chamber of Commerce Website. Enjoy the communal vibes and Zicke Zacke-ing.
