Milwaukee Marathon Man
The first race is in Antarctica on January 31, 2025.
Whether you’re the type who believes they could be a professional athlete with a bit of time to train or somebody who gets winded walking to the refrigerator, you may want to sit down. Because a Milwaukee man is training to make us all look very lazy.
Dr. Clark Gamblin is one of 60 runners participating in the 2025 World Marathon Challenge, where ultra-endurance athletes run seven marathons on seven continents in seven days.
Yes, that’s seven more marathons than most of us will run in our lives over the course of a week, which translates to 183.4 miles of running, over 60 hours of flying time, plus an incalculable amount of time going through customs and waiting in security lines. Here’s hoping they sprang for Global Entry.
Dr. Gamblin isn’t just doing this for fun — if that’s even possible — he’s a cancer survivor and is participating to raise funds for the Testicular Cancer Awareness Foundation.
The first race is in Antarctica on January 31, 2025. The runners then move on to Cape Town, South Africa; Perth, Australia; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Madrid, Spain; and Fortaleza, Brazil, before wrapping up the final race a week later in Miami.
Dr. Gamblin is hoping to raise $250,000 through his efforts. You can contribute to his fundraiser here. You can follow his training and his races on his Instagram page here.
And, Doc, you’re going to need a few beers once you’ve finished this epic journey. Stop by the DW Pub and we’ll hook you up with seven of them.
