Winter Watering Hole in Brookfield

Beginning on Thursday, the Ice Bar at BelAir Cantina will give locals a chance to socialize in a glacial setting.

Are you not getting enough ice on Wisconsin’s sidewalks, roadways, and bodies of water? Well, good news! A new ice bar is opening soon in Brookfield to fill that lingering void in your life. Beginning on Thursday, the Ice Bar at BelAir Cantina will give locals a chance to socialize in a glacial setting.

A company called Art Below Zero created the polar installation using around 10,000 pounds of ice. The setup features a 20-foot-long frozen bar, sculptures, and ice luges. And this being 2025, there are also several backdrops to take photos and videos for social media, so be sure to wear your finest scarf and Sunday parka.

Now, unless you’re a penguin, sipping drinks in the elements will get old quickly. But fear not, there are heated seating areas available to help prolong the experience for those. They have a number of specialty drinks on the menu, but they didn’t give them fun, ice-related like Frojito, North Pole-oma, or a Manhatta’n Gloves, so what’s the point of even listing them?

You’ll find the Ice Bar at the Corners of Brookfield in the Market Square in front of BelAir Cantina. It opens on January 30th and will be open Thursday and Friday from 4 to 8 p.m., Saturday from noon to 8 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. There is no end date scheduled. The ice party will last as long as Old Man Winter allows. But recent weather patterns suggest there will be plenty of time for you to stop by and enjoy a drink in the elements.
