A Beatles-themed bar modeled after the legendary Cavern Club is now open in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The original underground music venue in Liverpool, England, is where the Fab Four got their start in the late 1950s.

The group played nearly 300 shows in the former fruit warehouse/World War II air raid shelter before moving on to much bigger audiences worldwide, but fans can now get a taste of their humble beginnings without leaving the state.

Some younger readers may be shrugging their shoulders right now. To get you up to speed, know that The Beatles were a wildly popular rock band that dominated the pop charts during the 1960s and early 1970s and have remained relevant since. You probably know some of their music even if you don’t realize it, as it still permeates the culture. In other words, if you want to get a rise out of somebody with gray hair, simply tell them you’ve never heard of The Beatles and then watch them come unglued.

This is actually the second location for Let It Be. The owners run another smaller bar in Hartland with the same Cavern Club theme. As you might expect, Beatles tribute bands perform at both regularly, but they also host non-Beatles-related acts.

The new one has been open for special events over the past several months but just started regular hours in early December. Right now, they have music and bar service three days a week, but they will soon be offering food and will have expanded hours once licensing and staffing processes are completed.

The new Let it Be is located at 716 Clinton St. in downtown Waukesha and is now open Thursday through Saturday, but be sure to check their website for more information before you go, as the holidays will affect their hours. You’ll figure it out. We have total faith in you.
