Biking in the Buff
Cyclists in various stages of undress will do a slow roll of approximately 15 miles through the city streets
Ready to let it all hang out while balancing on two wheels? The World Naked Bike Ride returns to the streets of Milwaukee on June 24th. The au naturel group ride promotes body positivity, cyclist awareness, and energy independence. It also gives participants and spectators alike an opportunity to shout “Woooooo” repeatedly.
This marks the third installment of the event in Milwaukee, but it’s been happening around the world since 2004. There will be organized bare rides in more than 20 cities across the United States throughout the summer.
Locally, cyclists in various stages of undress will do a slow roll of approximately 15 miles through the city streets to the surprise and delight of some and the shock and horror of others—those prudes.
With the ride just a week away, you really have to embrace the body positivity thing because there’s not enough time to get into shape. However, you’ve still got seven days to get a spray tan, groom your body hair, and Scotchguard your bicycle seat.
Participants will gather at Kochanski’s Concertina Beer Hall to gear up. Er, strip down. The ride begins at 4 pm, but activities will be happening all day. There will be music, vendors, body painting, and yoga beforehand. No word on whether that is all naked too.
