Giant Troll Coming to Wisconsin
There is speculation that the troll will either be bowling, muddling a brandy old fashioned, or doing a Lambeau Leap, with magnets suspending it in midair.
A new park in Wauwatosa will have one large resident.
It was announced this week that a troll sculpture by renowned Danish recycling artist Thomas Dambo will have a home there when the unnamed park opens in 2025.
Dambo has created over 135 troll sculptures from repurposed wood and other items. They can be found in locations around the United States and Europe. This will be his first in Wisconsin. There are already several in Minnesota, Illinois, and Michigan, which seems to be some sort of mistake.
He will begin work on the troll at his workshop in Denmark and then spend around four weeks completing it on-site. In a video message, the artist claimed to have a “really, really special” design in store for the project that was perfect for the Wauwatosa location.
This has led to speculation that the troll will either be bowling, muddling a brandy old fashioned, or doing a Lambeau Leap, with magnets suspending it in midair.
Granted, those theories we tossed around at the Drink Wisconsinbly Week in Review editorial meeting, so you may want to take them with a grain of salt.
The new park is currently under construction at North 116th Street and West Gilbert Avenue and is scheduled to have its grand opening sometime after Memorial Day next year, so you have time to plan your trip.
There’s no mention of whether tailgating is allowed there, but if it’s a Wisconsin troll, he’ll surely be cool with it.
