Haunted Hotel Spooks Dodgers Star

If watching Scooby-Doo taught us anything, it's that ghosts are usually just greedy people trying to scare away others for their own personal gain.

The Los Angeles Dodgers were in Milwaukee to play the Brewers this week. Most of the team stayed at the Pfister Hotel, but one player was spooked into finding other accommodations.

For the second year in a row, Los Angeles Dodgers star outfielder Mookie Betts refused to sleep at the Pfister and instead chose to stay at a nearby Airbnb during the four-game set.

Betts claims he doesn’t actually believe in ghosts but doesn’t want to discover he is wrong the hard way. He’s heard the rumors of paranormal activity at the historic hotel, though, and said various noises have kept him awake and jittery during previous visits.

That would seem to suggest he kinda believes in ghosts, though, wouldn’t it?

If watching Scooby-Doo taught us anything, it’s that ghosts are usually just greedy people trying to scare away others for their own personal gain. However, the stories of the Pfister ghost have persisted for so long that it couldn’t be one bad apple trying to run off guests in hopes of getting a lower nightly rate or anything equally as sinister. In fact, some believe the ghost is the hotel’s long-departed proprietor, Charles Pfister, and he’s just trying to make sure guests are enjoying their visit.

Over the first three games of the series, Betts went 6 for 14 with 3 runs and 3 RBIs. Those numbers suggest his Airbnb likely wasn’t haunted. Or if it was, the resident ghost has a very blasé attitude toward helping the Brewers capture the pennant.

He did sit out Thursday’s game, so maybe the Airbnb Ghost saved up all its spooky business for Mookie’s last night in town.

There’s been no word on how this slight has affected the Pfister ghost. Rejection can be tough to deal with, so we’d like to invite you to stop by Drink Wisconsinbly Pub and enjoy some warm hospitality and good company.

You’re welcome to rattle a few things and make some ghost noises, but we ask you not to scare any of our customers. Unless they happen to play for a visiting sports team.
