New Season, New Scoreboard
In the past, if you wanted to enjoy a ballgame on an extremely large screen, you had to head to your nearest big-box electronics store and hang around in the TV department.
If you like watching the Milwaukee Brewers game on a really big screen, the best place to do it this season might be at American Family Field.
Earlier this week, the team unveiled their new supersized video scoreboard. And, at 12,000 square feet, it’s more than double the size of its predecessor.
Apparently, the screen has an 8-millimeter pixel resolution. Word on this street is that’s the highest resolution in Major League Baseball for boards of this size.
In the past, if you wanted to enjoy a ballgame on an extremely large screen, you had to head to your nearest big-box electronics store and hang around in the TV department. Now, that may no longer be the best option. So, as a service to our readers, the Drink Wisconsinbly Week in Review Consumer Investigation Team weighed the pros and cons of both alternatives:
The ballpark requires a ticket to watch the game on their giant screen.
The electronics store lets you watch their TVs for free.
The ballpark will always have the game on.
The electronics store might be showing a loop of colorful sea creatures or hot air balloons to feature the image quality of their TVs.
The ballpark sells food and beer, but they charge a lot for it.
The electronics store doesn’t offer refreshments, but you can sneak in your own beer, hotdogs, and snacks rather easily.
The ballpark can be crowded and loud with the action on the field that distracts from the game on the screen.
The electronics store is quieter unless there is some kind of big sale happening.
The ballpark lets you stay until the final out.
The electronics store often shoos you out before the end of night games.
The ballpark staff welcomes you back day after day.
The electronics store employees eventually recognize you and say, “You’ve got a lot of nerve showing your face here, buddy. You can’t just hang out in the store for hours, leaving empty beer cans and peanut shells wherever you please. Beat, it ya cheap weirdo.”
Hopefully, this will help our readers make an informed decision when it comes time to choose a big screen to watch games. Have a great season. Go Brewers.
